Day 1: Arrival at Katra – Vaishno Devi Yatra
Arrive in Katra, the base town for the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage. Check into your hotel and rest briefly before starting the 13 km trek to the Vaishno Devi Bhawan, located in the Trikuta Hills. You may walk or opt for services like ponies, palkis, battery cars, or helicopter rides. Offer prayers at the sacred shrine and, if time permits, visit Bhairavnath Temple, 2 km further uphill. Return to Katra by late evening or early the next morning. Overnight stay in Katra.
Day 2: Katra to Jammu – Transfer to Srinagar
After breakfast and checkout, drive to Jammu (about 1.5 hours), from where you can either fly or drive to Srinagar (7–8 hours by road). The road journey is scenic, passing through Patnitop, Banihal Tunnel, and pine forests. Upon arrival in Srinagar, check in to your hotel or houseboat near Dal Lake. In the evening, enjoy a relaxing Shikara ride and sunset views on the lake. Overnight stay in Srinagar.
Day 3: Srinagar to Kargil (Via Sonamarg & Drass)
After an early breakfast, leave for Kargil, a key town en route to Ladakh. Drive through the picturesque Sonamarg valley and cross the mighty Zoji La Pass (11,575 ft). Stop at Drass, the second coldest inhabited place in the world, and visit the Kargil War Memorial. Continue to Kargil and check in at your hotel. Overnight stay in Kargil.
Day 4: Kargil to Leh (via Lamayuru & Magnetic Hill)
Today, proceed from Kargil to Leh, the capital of Ladakh. The drive takes you through stunning landscapes, including Mulbekh Monastery, Lamayuru (Moonland), and Alchi Monastery. En route, stop at the Magnetic Hill, where vehicles appear to defy gravity, and see the confluence of the Zanskar and Indus rivers. Reach Leh by evening and check in to your hotel. Rest and acclimatize. Overnight stay in Leh.
Day 5: Leh Local Sightseeing
Spend the day exploring the best of Leh. Visit Shey Palace, Thiksey Monastery, and Hemis Monastery, known for their stunning locations and architecture. In the afternoon, visit the Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace. Stroll through Leh Market in the evening to shop for local crafts. Overnight stay in Leh.
Day 6: Leh to Nubra Valley via Khardung La Pass
After breakfast, drive to Nubra Valley via Khardung La Pass (18,380 ft), one of the world’s highest motorable roads. On arrival, visit the Diskit Monastery, which houses a giant Buddha statue overlooking the valley. Later, head to Hunder to enjoy a ride on double-humped Bactrian camels amidst the sand dunes. Overnight stay at a camp or guesthouse in Nubra Valley.
Day 7: Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake
Leave Nubra after breakfast and drive to the mesmerizing Pangong Lake via the Shyok River route. The drive is adventurous and scenic, with stunning views of mountains and river valleys. Reach Pangong Lake by afternoon and witness the magical color-changing waters of this high-altitude lake. Spend the night in a lakeside camp under the stars. Overnight stay at Pangong.
Day 8: Pangong Lake to Leh (via Chang La Pass)
Wake up early to catch the sunrise over Pangong Lake, a truly unforgettable experience. After breakfast, start your journey back to Leh via Chang La Pass (17,586 ft).
